Broken record time. 2019 was one heck of a year. Wasn't it? Perhaps it was no better or worse than previous years, but it sure seemed to have more than its fair share of low points.
Every time the news came on, it appeared that we had just endured some type of mass shooting. Then we watched in shock as Notre Dame burned and we hung our head as we learned about everything from cheaters on the race course to politicians who seemed to not be able to care less about the public good.
Now we understand the old newspaper axiom of "If it bleeds, it leads", but dang, should we have to look that hard to find examples of people doing the right thing? We certainly don't think so.
That's why every year, we go on a public search for women in the endurance sports community who we can hold up as examples of compassion, kindness, and courage.
We call the program our "Heart and Courage Awards" and we're pleased to announce that we are accepting applications. If you know of or have heard about someone who went above and beyond in the field of endurance sports last year, we'd love to hear her story.
To be clear, the nominees do not need to be Coeur Customers, Collective Beat Members or Ambassadors. They just need to have:
- Accomplished a goal after pushing through adversity
- Done something to encourage or inspire others
- Helped grow, promote or in some way paint endurance sports in a favorable light.
We will review the submissions and announce the winner in February. Entries may be submitted until February 1, 2019. We’ll select at least three winners and they will receive the following:
- A donation to the charity of their choice from Coeur
- A $100 Coeur Sports Gift Card
- Some great free Coeur Gear
The entry form is embedded below and we'd encourage you to read about the winners from 2017 or 2018. We suspect that, like us, you will be humbled and perhaps even more inspired to be that shining light upon the hill.
Your friends at Coeur.
